The following are some organizations that are involved in protecting the Sierra Nevada mountains. Each group provides a unique method in helping protect our limited natural resources. Some of the groups are specific to the Sierra Nevada while others have a much broader scope. Each group provides different levels of involvement; through education, volunteering, and donations, they are all about helping protect the environment and the natural beauty of the Sierra.
The Nature Conservancy - A leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.
Sierra Club - Inspired by nature, the Sierra Club works together to protect our communities and the planet. The Club is America's oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization.
Earth Justice - A non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to protecting the magnificent places, natural resources, and wildlife of this earth, and to defending the right of all people to a healthy environment.
Sierra Nevada Alliance - The Sierra Nevada Alliance unites individuals and groups behind a common vision where natural and human communities coexist in harmony.
Sierra Forest Legacy - The Campaign was formed with the primary goal of protecting and restoring Sierra Nevada national forests and to coordinate and focus the efforts of its member groups and maximize their effectiveness.
The Wilderness Society - The bring to bear our scientific expertise, analysis and bold advocacy at the highest levels to save, protect and restore America's wilderness areas.
California Wilderness Coalition - To achieve formal wilderness designation and protection by the state or federal government for as much of the wild California landscape as possible.
Forests Forever - Forests Forever exists to defend and restore California’s 17 million acres of diverse woodland ecosystems.
